Prime Minister Rozgar Yojana is still a well sought employment programme that offers training and subsidy to the beneficiaries. Unfortunately, takers to this project are comparatively low in certain areas because of lack of awareness among the people. Reluctance of banks to finance the projects is another issue since many of the projects are not financially viable. Hence, service of an NGO is essential in certain areas to motivate the beneficiaries. Rajiv Youth Foundation has identified this gap and accordingly organised PMRY workshop in Porur for the purpose.

The workshop was conducted on 14th July 2007 and it was inaugurated by Shri. P. Abdul Majeed, Manager, District Industries centre, Malappuram. Shri.Issac Kuruvilla, Asst. Manager, Coir Board handled session on ‘Small scale industries-Possibilities and issues’. Dr. A. Ayub, Asst. Director, Kerala Animal Husbandry Department handled a class on ‘Rabbit Rearing-a possible micro enterprise’.
